The first spark of darkness [open/mod]

[For those who don't know: a [mod] tag means that the thread owner wants a mod to spawn him a Pokemon, while [open] means other RPers can come in and interact with the character. When both are started up there, then we'll just see who is faster!]

Ascenda Route - the 'Route One' of the Zaen region. Apparently it was dubbed as route one because of the lack of action...trees for miles and nothing else. With his new Shadow Pokemon trailing from behind, Gaius narrowed his eyes and breathed in the fresh, forest air, trying to smell out a nearby Pokemon. There were probably some of them nearby, but searching for them in the bushes would be as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. Walking on seemed to be only option.

"We will soon have to find another Pokemon to keep you company, Hecarim," said Gaius with his hands in his pocket, "And if we want to be promoted to even higher ranks, then we better start training as soon as possible."

"Hopefully a Pokemon here would be worthy enough to battle. They're all hiding," replied the Riolu camly with an uninterested shrug, "Why can't they show themselves for once? Also, Gaius, remember the fact that you have seize balls; capturing trainer Pokemon has never been easier-"

"I don't need you to remind me about that. I'm probably more familiar with the system than you are," interrupted the Luxray Pokemorph, taking the Shadow Pokemon by surprise. Hecarim didn't seem offended, though, and walked alongside his new trainer, waiting for things to happen.

[Macabre]

Oh, Glameow, this humidity is, like, totally killing my hair.." the blonde haired girl whimpered as she lifted her hand to mess with her wavy strands. "I mean, can't the weatherman, like, just make it cooler outside? Isn't that his job?" She looked down at her Normal type partner with a look of disgust.

Beauty Trainer Anna Marie appeared!

Glameow hardly glanced up at her trainer. It had taken everything in her to not roll her eyes and snap at her stupid trainer. Instead of slashing the girl's pretty little face off, the feline simply licked at her paw and made a soft purring sound. 'Just play along, Glameow. Just play along,' she thought to herself.

It was in that moment that Anna Marie heard the sounds of footsteps coming down the path. "Oh?" She tilted her head curiously as she turned to face the sound. "Who could be walking down here at this time of day?'

'Anyone? This is the most traveled path in the region,' Glameow thought to herself.

As the male PokeMorph came into vision, Anna Marie grinned from ear to ear and started to wave her hand. "Ohmygod, hi! Are you a trainer too?" She said as she began to approach him. "It sucks that all these Hunters are around taking away people's Pokemon and stuff. I mean, like, seriously! What's their issue? Maybe they weren't held enough as a kids." She laughed casually.

However, the Glameow was backing away slowly, her eyes locked on the oddly colored Riolu that was trotting beside the PokeMorph.

Gaius blinked and managed a weak smile as the trainer approached him, blabbering about how Hunters had stolen others' Pokemon and stuff. Could she not see that he was walking with a shadow Riolu? Thankfully the Pokemorph wasn't in the mood to do some stealing; some battling did seem nice though. Plus, a Glameow wasn't going to be all powerful anyway...why waste a Seize Ball?

"Most of them, maybe. Some of them are smarter," came Gaius' reply as he eyed the Glameow, "Hmm...want to battle? My Pokemon would need some training for future objectives. I haven't seen any trainers for a while either."

Hecarim stared right back at its 'future opponent', tilting his head with confusion. Seriously, did everyone have to stare at him as if he was some kind of abomination? Yes, he was a Shadow Pokemon, but did that really make him automatically evil?

...Maybe so.

[Macabre]

Anna Marie spun her finger through her hair as her "fellow trainer" responded to her sudden approach, all the while smiling with ignorant bliss. Even when her eyes trailed down to look at the small Pokemon beside the PokeMorph nothing seemed to click in her head. Though, she did have a passing thought about whether Riolue were suppose to be blue or purple...

"Sure! I just started, so I might not be a very good opponent. Oh well, YOLO!" She said with a grin as she took a few steps back. "Glameow, ready for a battle?" She looked down at the Pokemon.

Though hesitant, Glameow walked out in front of her trainer and assumed a defensive stance. She knew that Shadow Pokemon were bad news and that they were rumored to be way stronger than the average Pokemon, but what if all of that was just folklore? Made up stories used to scare children into going to bed on time? It seemed unlikely, but the thought still seemed to give her a bit of comfort.

The Glameow seemed to had noticed that Hecarim was a Shadow Pokemon, but the cat's trainer was apparently quite clueless about that matter...either way, it was going to be a fun battle. Fun for who though? They'll just have to wait and see.

"I just started as well, so don't worry too much about it," replied Gaius with the same weak smile on his face, "Just don't whine if you lose."

Hecarim nodded with agreement upon hearing his trainer's words, stepping out to the makeshift 'arena'. Gaius gave him an approving nod and stepped back, closing his eyes as he muttered out the first command; he had confidence in his Riolu so he didn't really have to care too much about the battle.

"Hecarim," said the Pokemorph with an amused swish of his tail, "Quick attack."

Upon hearing Gaius' command, the Riolu narrowed his eyes and bolted forward, swiping his backhand at the air in front of him with a fast, effective assault.

"Same to you~!" Anna Marie cheerfully replied, trying not so hard to stifle a giggle. "Glameow dear, please use Fake Out!"

Springing forward at a sudden pace, the grey feline jumped in front of the Riolu and clapped its paws together, producing a shockwave of air. The Riolu was sent hurtling backwards, but it did not appear to flinch.

The blue dog skilfully picked itself up and dashed forward. It struck the Glameow's flank with a paw, dealing a good amount of pain with it.
