The Task Boards
If you've played the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, then you should have a good idea what a Task Board is. If not, here's a good idea of what it is:
A Task Board is a large wooden board with many papers and files stuck onto it. Each paper depicts a different quest/mission that needs to be done. Upon completion of a task, you will be reward with any combination of money, Pokemon, Items, and/or an egg.
Task Board missions can take place on main routes, or in the Otherlands, so please keep mind that you can only have one main route thread.
You may have as many tasks as you think you can handle, but you do have a three day time limit to starting threads. If you do not start a task within the three day time limit you will lose it and it would be up for grabs on the Task Board once again.
The Seize Ball
The Seize Ball can be your best friend or your worse nightmare depending on who's holding it. Though as a general rule, only Hunters have these, it has been mentioned that a few trainers have gotten their hands on these pokeballs. When a Pokemon that already belong to another trainer has fainted, the Seize Ball can be used to successfully capture the Pokemon and effectively erase the Pokemon's memory. When the Pokemon has it's memory erased it goes into a "Wild State", which means that it will act as if it has never seen a human before in it's life. Depending on the Pokemon this can make them aggressive or timid.
Once a Pokemon is capture with a Seize Ball, the only way to retrieve it is to trade or buy it back from the trainer who stole it from you. Consequently, you can ask for a rematch and wager that Pokemon.
Gym Battles
Gym battles will just the same as any other battle, however you will be facing a Hunter. Don't worry, Gym leaders won't steal your Pokemon, but they will have a Shadow Pokemon, which has boosted stats and may have a super powered attack.
Gyms will have a level cap, which will look like this "Mn/L: 10 | Mx/L: 20." Mn/L stands for 'Minimum Level' and 'Mx/L' stands for Maximum Level. Only Pokemon within the set levels may partake in the gym battles. This is to prevent people from power leveling and then flying through all of the gyms, while also making the battles reasonable. It would be weird to average the levels of overleveled Pokemon, so that the first gym battle would be between level 50s.
Shadow Pokemon
Shadow Pokemon are evil Pokemon, to put it lightly. These Pokemon are pure fighting machines that will not stop fighting until they have won. When called onto the battlefield, they emit a black, purple aura from their bodies. Though they are not stronger than their normal counterpart in the sense of stats or attacks, they are stronger in the sense that they do not recognize their limits. Think of them like zombies on the battlefield. Pain is relative and sympathy is for the weak minded.
However, outside of battle they act and seem to be like normal Pokemon. They still have personalities when not battling and could pass for an everyday Pokemon. And so, they only take up one slot in a party.
Shadow Pokemon are very rare in the wild, and with the exception of the Hunter's starter Pokemon and Gym leaders, its likely that a regular trainer will not see one. However, there have been sightings of wild Shadow Pokemon lurking in shadows of nighttime.
Shadow Pokemon are also unique in the fact that they have Shadow Attacks. These are strange attacks that come from the aura emitted from then. They act as normal attacks and there is a variety of them, however they can never be forgotten until the Pokemon has been purified.
Shadowfication
To put it simply, this is the process of turning a normal Pokemon into a Shadow Pokemon. As you would assume, only Hunters can do this. A former wild Pokemon may be converted into a Shadow Pokemon for 5,000 money. However, Pokemon that have been stolen cannot go under the shadowfication process.
Once a Hunter has caught a wild Pokemon and raised enough money to fund the process, (s)he can take their Pokemon to the Hunter's main base and then ask a researcher if they are qualified to do this process. After finding a researcher, the person will then take away the hunter's Pokemon for three days. During that time the Pokemon will undergo a series of shots, tests, etc. and ultimately become a Shadow Pokemon. Any Pokemon that already has four moves will have to forget a move in order to learn it's Shadow Attack. If you do not specify what move should be forgotten, the Pokemon will forget a move at random.
Purification
This is the only way to revert a Shadow Pokemon back to it's normal state. However, only Time Travelers know how to preform the ceremony. Any Shadow Pokemon can be purified, provided you have 5,000 money to spare.
Once a Time Traveler has gotten their hands on a Shadow Pokemon, (s)he can take the Pokemon to hidden lake and begin the ceremony. The ceremony usually starts with chant and then followed by dunking the Pokemon into the lake's water. The Pokemon must be left by the lake for three days in order for the effects to work. Once the three days are up, the person can return and pick up their newly purified Pokemon. The Pokemon's old Shadow Attack will be forgotten and in it's place will be a random egg move that the Pokemon could normally learn (if the Pokemon has no egg moves then it will learn a random TM/HM move)
