Apparently the travel department brochures were correct; Mirror Lake was indeed an chilly place. The lake was now covered with a sheet of ice - an ideal place for ice-skating and fishing. With an attempt to test his luck, Gaius walked on the surface, searching for a good location to start with. His eyes soon landed onto a little crack at his feet, and the Pokemorph called for his Pokemon with a wave of his hand. Hecarim walked forward and gazed at the same crack, examining it with his eyes.

"Can you make a little hole here so we can see what's down there?' asked the Luxray Pokemorph, "There might have something useful underneath the sufrace."

Hecarim nodded and placed his paw onto the crack, using the energy from his aura to melt the ice underneath. A hole soon formed under his paw, revealing the cold, calm water under it. Now they had to wait.

A grey leatherback turtle burst forth out of the hole, to take a breather. When it saw a Riolu staring straight right at it, it first noticed the obvious ominous glow around it. Instinctively with panic, it spurted a jet of water from its mouth in order to knock the Riolu.

Hecarim's eyes widened and groaned as he took the jet of water right at the face, stumbling back from the surprise attack. The Riolu growled and wiped the water off his face, glaring at the turtle who had surfaced in front of them.

"Hm, a Tirtouga. Would be useful," said Gaius with a small grin, "A Carracosta would be decently strong. Hecarim, use Shadow Panic to confuse him then do a quick attack."

Hecarim nodded and created a ball of black aura at his right paw, slamming it onto the ground and making it shatter. A black wave of energy spread outward like a ring of waves, hitting the enemies around him. The Riolu then approached the Tirtouga and swiped his hand across the air, attacking him with a Quick Attack.

[Whimsical Cotton]

All of a sudden, the Tirtouga's vision was filled with rings of darkness exploding around him. He felt a wave of dizziness overcome him, rendering him unable to do anything. The Riolu took this chance to sprint towards him and dealt a backhand assault. However, the leatherback turtle's rock body shrugged off the attack like a mild sting. The dizziness returned but it managed to snap out of it and withdrew back into its tough shell, as a defense mechanism.
